Bath at Twilight

Last Thursday 21st June, saw the launch of Bath at Twilight. A new event brought to the city by Bath's official tourism board, Visit Bath. Running once a month, from now until October, some of our best loved high-street shops and independent boutiques will be staying open late into the evening. Giving us the opportunity to indulge in retail therapy, away from the day-time madding crowds, and more conveniently, at our own leisurely pace. Roll on the next Bath at Twilight event on Thursday 19th July, I say!

Not only will there be the opportunity to shop 'til you drop when the sun goes down, but there will also be live entertainment happening across the city. Not to mention the bustling market stalls on Union Street, which will be selling handmade produce from local artisans and producers. From local jewellery to fragrances, from Italian delicacies to chocolates and confectionary made in a local village just outside of Bath, there is plenty to peruse, sample (the food and drinks stalls that is!) and of course, take home with you...

Now, after all that shopping and wandering across the city, you may find you work yourself up an appetite. Well, during Bath at Twilight, restaurants will be opening late into the evening too, with some offering great deals and discounts. Try pizza and Prosecco at Bath Pizza Co. for just £10 (their pizzas are seriously tasty) in Green Park Station, or, how about some speed dating at Circo Bar on George Street for any singletons out there. Alternatively, to top off a lovely evening out with friends, why not sample gorgeous wines together at Le Vignoble, and, receive 20% off wines by the glass when you use their Enomatic Elite machines...

Lastly, residents of Bath, don't forget to take your Discovery Card out with you to enjoy discounts across the market stalls on Union Street, during Bath at Twilight.

That's everything covered, I think, so now I want to share with you where I stopped at during the launch night of Bath at Twilight...

Before setting off into the city with my camera, I joined Visit Bath and Bath Bid at their bloggers and media gathering at Vino Vino for delicious rosé and nibbles.

We all met at Vino Vino, for delicious rosé and nibbles, before setting off in our different directions, to capture the city's retail and foodie scene at night!

Then... First on my agenda was a visit to Rupert and Buckley.

A British, luxury clothing brand founded by James Buckley Thorpe in 2011. The story goes that James, as a Fresher, signed up to his university's rowing team and soon had the idea that he wanted his rowing crew to all wear the same coloured socks, with the stripes of their college. These brightly coloured socks soon got lots of attention on the river, other rowing teams wanted in on the action! In one week alone, James was making 600 pairs of socks for his university peers. Popularity and success grew, and now here the brand is today, seven years on, with an entire collection of British inspired clothing for men and women...

From there I popped over to Ted Baker, who currently have a sale of up to 50% off, with further reductions added too. I also fell in love with some of these items from the exclusive 'Col. by numbers' collection modelled by lovely Holly from the store...

I love to pop into Primark, especially for my vest tops, plain tees, flip flops, makeup brushes and hair accessories - I find they always have a great selection. However, I often find that it's heaving with shoppers and tourists alike (especially during these summer months) and the queues for the tills can be tediously long. So, I am looking forward to visiting during Bath at Twilight, to see if I have the shop floors a little more to myself!

A final few photos of a foodie destination in Bath. Framptons will be offering steak and wine for just £15 during Bath at Twilight.

Perfect! I'll see you there!
