The Scallop Shell Launch Party - Bath
Although we do not have a beach in reach, Bathonian's need not travel far to enjoy an authentic taste of the British seaside. A deliciously fresh menu awaits diners at The Scallop Shell on Monmouth Street, Bath. The fish and chips are flippin' fantastic (seriously worth travelling cross-country for), and the shellfish and grilled seafood are just as exemplary here. It's not surprising then, that when I turned up on Wednesday evening, the tables were packed full of punters, and, the takeaway queue was almost out the door (and it was only just gone 6:30pm!)
I had been invited to attend the restaurant's launch party of their new dining quarters upstairs. Before I reveal in pictures what the evening entailed, here is a brief sneak peek of the launch party captured on film:
Complimentary flutes of Prosecco, glasses of wine and bottles of beer were flowing, and exquisite canapés presented on scallop shells were handed out to guests too.
Due to its popularity, The Scallop Shell has been extended and will now cater for an additional 60 diners in their smart, newly refurbished restaurant space upstairs.
There are subtle elegant beach vibes going on here. The furnishings have been tastefully and creatively considered. Wooden cladded seating provides ample space for social gatherings, as well as the all important elbow space you'll require for digging into freshly prepared clams, crabs and mussels. A great touch is the ability to discard your shells in colourful buckets that feature on each table!
Customers can enjoy watching the chefs prepare and plate up dishes...
There is even a large balcony to the rear of the restaurant, which I was informed will soon be home to a herb garden and BBQ station which will be used by the chefs in the warmer months. So guests can enjoy dining al fresco!
As I made my way downstairs and passed the tantalisingly tasty waft of freshly fried fish n' chips, I made a mental note to definitely come back soon!
Many thanks to Caroline and the team at The Scallop Shell for kindly inviting me along. I enjoyed capturing the evening behind my lens and sampling a tasty canapé, or two!
