Earlier this week, I was invited to the launch of RMS Beauty at Space NK in Bath. Being the beauty lover that I am, I couldn't wait to discover more about this organic colour brand and be one of the first to try the products in store. I was fortunate to spend some time with the brand's founder, Rose-Marie Swift, and ask her a series of questions about RMS Beauty. I couldn't resist finding out what her beauty secrets are too! So, for some of the best beauty tips in the trade ladies, come and take a read of our Q&A below...

When did you establish RMS Beauty?
I started it 8 years ago. I didn't want to bombard all the stores out there, so I grew it gradually and very organically.
RMS stands for your initials as well as 'Right Mental State' and 'Real Make-up Secrets,' but why?
There's a whole meaning behind my brand. It's organic, so it's healthy for you. To me, that's the 'Right Mental State' to be in right now.
Regarding 'Real Make-up Secrets'? Well, I have been in the industry for so long, that I have learnt so many tricks from either actresses or really established models, therefore I know all these beauty tips that I can educate people with! There are tricks that I have learnt that can make everything easier and not so complicated. So those are my secrets, I don't hold them back! I want everyone to experience all the simplicity and little enhancements that can be done easily.
Why did you decide to create a line of beauty products using only organic ingredients?
I am using ingredients that are the 'least of the evils.' Ingredients that are grown organically, that are healthy for you and not detrimental in any way or form.
What makes RMS different or better from other 'natural and organic' beauty brands on the market?
I am in complete control of what ingredients the labs use. I also buy all the minerals myself because they are the most expensive ones you can buy in the industry. I am a stickler for making sure the best ingredients are in my products! I want to have the best brand out there when it comes to being a 'clean' beauty brand.
Can your products be used by people with sensitive skin?
Yes, 100%! For people with sensitive skin; rosacea, eczema, psoriasis or acne for example, these are the products they should be using.
You don't use any 'steam distilled essential oils' in your products, please could you explain why?
They are fantastic for therapeutic purposes, but what I see happening in the industry is that they are using them as masks - masking the scent of rancid oils. When you have so many essential oils in your eye cream, day cream, night cream, toners, spritzers, primers and foundations, it's overkilling the skin, and in the long term, it's drawing out the skin. Essential oils are so powerful that they can affect the potency of herbal extracts. So yes, I do avoid using any essential oils.
What's your target audience?
We don't really have a target audience, we are actually captivating the soul of the younger people that care about the environment, about packaging, ingredients and anti-ageing properties for their young skin. We are also attracting mature women in their 70's, 80's and even in their 90's, wanting the products because they have the moisturising properties that helps make their mature skin look better. We encompass a full spectrum of ages.
What are your best-selling products?
My best-selling product hands down is my 'Living Luminizer.' It's the ultimate product for adding a dewy, light reflective glow and candlelight appearance to the skin.
Which is your favourite, go-to product from your makeup line?
My coconut oil. I use it for absolutely everything!
What's your best beauty secret, if you don't mind sharing it?!
My best beauty secret? Less is more girls, stop piling on the makeup. If you want to go heavy makeup then focus on the lips, the eyebrows, add lots of mascara but leave the skin looking beautiful and just glowing.
What shades of lipstick would you say are currently most on trend this season?
I know that berry shades and very dark burnt orange reds that have an orange/terracotta base will be huge this season.

Will you be launching any new products to the line?
A whole bunch! We have just launched the 'Luminizer X Quad' - four different new high-impact luminizers in one highlighting palette. We also have the new lipstick collection that will be out any day now and then I have some other things in the making, but they are secret!
What is the attraction of selling your range through Space NK?
Space NK is a fabulous store! They have a cross-selection of different products for any kind of request from customers. The staff are knowledgable about the products, they have great makeup artists and a very good reputation. There are no disappointments when you come here - these neighbourhood friendly boutique shops are what are doing so well right now.
